DMC–TZ10 med 12,1 megapiksler har et LEICA DC VARIO–ELMAR–objektiv med 25 mm vidvinkel, 12x optisk zoom og f⁄3,3–4,9 (tilsvarer for 35 mm filmkamera: 25–300mm) i et kompakt hus. Vidvinkelobjektivet på 25 mm har cirka dobbelt så stort opptaksområde som et standard 35 mm objektiv. Den kraftige 12x zoomen kan også brukes ved opptak av video. I modus for 3 megapikslers oppløsning gir funksjonen med ekstra optisk zoom ekstra forstørrelse og utvider zoomeffekten til 23,4x ved å benytte den midtre delen av CCD–brikken.
Intelligent oppløsning (I.R–teknologien) gir et inntrykk av høy oppløsning på bilder tatt med digital zoom og på vanlige bilder. Bildene deles inn i konturområder, teksturområder og jevne områder. Det utføres en optimal bildeprosessering på hver type område. Dette gir 16x intelligent zoom med cirka 1,3 mer forstørrelse enn vanlig zoom, så å si uten tap av bildekvalitet. Den intelligent oppløsningsteknologien gir også skarpe bilder i moduser som benytter færre piksler for å gi mulighet til høy følsomhet og høy hastighet.
DMC–TZ10 kan ta opp HD–film i 720P i AVCHD Lite med høy lydkvalitet fra Digital Stereo Creator. Motion JPEG–format er også tilgjengelig (1280 x 720 piksler). Det er bare å trykke på Motion Picture–knappen, så er opptaket i gang. iA–moduset kan også aktiveres ved videoopptak. Når DMC–Z10 er koblet til en Panasonic VIERA via en mini HDMI–kabel (ekstrautstyr), kan TV–ens fjernkontroll brukes under avspilling og gi større komfort.
DMC–TZ10 har reisemodusfunksjon med GPS. Du kan raskt velge reisemodus fra hovedmenyen og organisere diverse informasjon i forbindelse med reisen. Når du tar bilder, lagres både sted og lokal tid fra GPS i bildet. Ved avspilling er det mulig å ha automatisk sortering og slideshow etter fotosted. DMC–TZ10 har dessuten P⁄A⁄S⁄M–modus for mer kreative bilder. Du kan glede deg over å ta bilder på farten før du tror.
POWER O.I.S. gir nesten dobbelt så stor korrigering av håndrystelser i forhold til konvensjonell MEGA O.I.S. Dermed kan du ta flotte nattbilder uten at de blir uskarpe. Når du aktiverer POWER O.I.S., intelligent ISO–kontroll, ansiktsgjenkjenning AF⁄AE, intelligent scenevelger med Sunset–modus, intelligent eksponering og AF–sporing, gjør kameraet hele jobben i iA–modus. Og Happy–modus er nylig lagt til i DMC–TZ10 og optimaliserer fargemetning og lysstyrke for livlige scener du vil huske.
